Basically, some countries do not require a visa to visit Dubai. People other than from these countries will need a Visa of their choice before the arrival.
VISA TYPES
TRANSIT VISA
A transit visa is just a temporary visa or short-period visa during your journey. Some countries may require that you have a stopover of a minimum of 24 hours just to further grant you a transit visa.

TOURIST VISA (S)
The tourist visa is for those who are not eligible for visa on arrival or a visa-free entry to the UAE. A tourist visa can be obtained for eligible individual tourists from around the world.

VISIT VISA OR TOURIST VISA?
Tourist visa Is such that you can only be used for tourism, vacations or leisure purpose. Whereas you can use a visit visa for business meetings, to attend a seminar or any other official like purpose. With a visit visa, you can stay for 90 days and with a tourist visa, you can stay for 14 days or 30 days and even extendible for a further 40 days under conditions.
